Board to review Return to Learn plan

School board to meet Monday

The Webster City Community School board of directors will review the district’s Return to Learn plan Monday night during its regular meeting at 6 p.m.

The board will meet in the board room at the school administration building but the public can join the meeting via Zoom using the meeting ID 859 4148 0259, password WCSD810.

The district presented its plan in June which included four options ranging from fully in-person classes to a hybrid version to fully remote learning. Gov. Kim Reynolds’ proclamation in July required students to spend at least half of their schooling in classrooms, though parents could choose to shift their children to fully remote learning. Several larger districts in the state are defying the in-person mandate and starting the year with remote classes.

School in Webster City is scheduled to begin on Aug. 24.

Also on the agenda is a public hearing on the proposed to convey property at 705 Odell Street, which is the Riverview Early Childhood Center.

The board will review the revised school calendar and will consider updated board policies.

Resignations from Zac Sjoberg, high school 10-month secretary, Tanya Jensen, high school paraeducator, Nelmarinia Chico Gonzalez, food service employee, and Tyler Patten, assistant warsity wrestling coach, are on the agenda. Contract recommendations for Michele Chalfant, for the high school 10-month guidance secretary, Libby Anderson, assistant 7th grade volleyball coach, Craig Signorin, assistant middle school cross country coach and lead learner staff ewill be considered.
