Cases climb to 193 in Hamilton County

The number of positive COVID-19 cases in Hamilton County rose to 193, up five since Sunday, according to information from coronavirus.iowa,gov.

A total of 2,004 individuals have been tested in Hamilton County for the novel coronavirus. One-hundred seventy-six people have recovered, leaving 17 active cases. Hamilton County has had one death related to COVID-19.

Surrounding counties have seen spikes in the number of cases. Webster County has had 4,797 people test for COVID-19 with 279 testing positive. A total of 156 have recovered from the coronavirus and there have been four reported deaths.

Wright County has had 389 positive tests out of the 2,773 individuals who have been tested. Three-hundred ten have recovered and there has been one death.

Statewide, there have been 739 deaths. A total of 355,338 people have been tested with 33,240 testing positive. Individuals who have recovered totaled 26,340.

According to information from the Regional Medical Coordination Center, Region 3, which includes Hamilton County, had 35 COVID-19 patients hospitalized. Nine of the those patients were in intensive care units and four were on ventilators. There had been five admissions in the past 24 hours, according to coronavirus.iowa.gov data.
