Sheriff’s office investigates stabbing

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area of Highway 175 and Tollman Avenue Tuesday at 1:55 p.m. for a reported stabbing.

Hamilton County Deputies, Ellsworth-Jewell-Stanhope Police Department and Iowa State Patrol troopers responded.

Law enforcement discovered an adult male with cuts and lacerations, a car in the ditch and two additional uninjured occupants.

The injured man was transported to Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames by the Jewell Fire and Rescue for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are continuing to investigate. There is no threat to public safety, according to officials.

Other assisting agencies included the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Hamilton County Conservation and the Iowa State Patrol airplane.
