A morning cup of coffee is essential for many people, and not even a global pandemic can change that. And that’s where Mornin’ Glory Coffee, a local establishment owned by Shawn and Laura Anderson, enters the picture.

If you can’t come to them, they’re more than happy to come to you.

With a steady stream of deliveries, as well as a curbside pick-up option, Mornin’ Glory Coffee hasn’t only survived during the novel coronavirus pandemic; it’s thrived.

“We’re probably one of the lucky few businesses where it’s gotten better,” Shawn Anderson said. “We already had delivery and our mobile app in place before this all started, so our business has actually picked up.”

Prior to the pandemic, which hit in mid-March, Anderson estimated that fewer than 100 people had downloaded the company’s mobile app for ordering and delivery services. But that number has exploded to more than 600 downloads over the past two months.

“I’d say 75 percent of our daily sales now come from that mobile app,” Anderson said. “We didn’t anticipate this COVID thing, but everybody lives on their phones these days and we knew that having a mobile app was going to be crucial. We’re blessed to have it.”

To download the app, customers simply have to go to the company’s website – www.morninglorycoffee.com – and click on the download button in the upper right-hand corner.

Because of the success with deliveries and curbside pick-up, Anderson says he’s not in any rush to re-open his dining room. He doesn’t yet have a date in mind when customers will be allowed to resume their mornings and afternoons inside the shop.

“We have not opened up at all for dining with that half-capacity thing because we don’t want to have to police our customers to make sure too many people aren’t in or keeping social distance,” Anderson said. “Our business is primarily a takeout business anyway, but one day we’ll open back up. We get asked about that several times per day.”

With an assortment of coffee, latte, cappuccino and blended drinks options, Mornin’ Glory Coffee also offers breakfast and lunch menus for customers.

Mornin’ Glory Coffee is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for carryout, and delivery is from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hours of operation on Saturday are 7 a.m. to noon for carryout, as well as 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. for deliveries.
