Employees of the Webster City Black Hills Energy unit are one step closer to a new office. A 5-acre parcel of land purchased from the city last fall, breaks ground in June and is expected to be complete in early March 2021.

The 12,000 square foot facility will serve as regional headquarters, housing 19 employees and as the Webster City area service center, material storage and construction staging. The property is adjacent to other industrial businesses, which will allow construction crews to operate in a safe manner, ready to support the local community at all times. The facility design supports the Black Hills Energy’s focus on safety by utilizing pull through equipment bays to store critical equipment out of the elements to ensure crews are ready to respond in all weather conditions.

“We are committed to the future of the community and look forward to the opportunity to grow with Webster City and the surrounding area,” said Michael Wright, manager of natural gas operations for Black Hills Energy in central Iowa. “The new location will allow us to consolidate three separate locations into one site allowing our operations to work more efficiently.”

The construction team, managed by Sampson Construction, will be utilizing many local subcontractors and material suppliers.
