Parks, trails, playgrounds closed
The city of Webster City announced Thursday that, effective immediately, all city parks will be closed.
The closure includes all park restrooms and playgrounds. Officials said the closure comes after consultation with Hamilton County Public Health. The action is due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, Webster City Schools announced the immediate closure of all school playgrounds and structures to help slow the spread of coronavirus.
The school district opted to take this action upon reviewing guidance from the Iowa Department of Public Health, the National Recreation and Park Association, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Officials said the district was also working closely with the City of Webster City.
The school property closures will not affect green spaces, basketball courts or tennis courts which will remain open to the public. Residents are encouraged to practice social distancing guidelines in those areas, including staying at least six feet away from others and avoiding groups.
