MIDAS suspends transit service

MIDAS Council of Governments announced that it will temporarily suspend services for its two transit systems – the Dodger Area Rapid Transit and the Regional Transit Authority which served Hamilton, Wright, Webster, Calhoun, Humnboldt and Pocahontas counties. The move is in response to the growing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to agency officials.

The RTA services had previously been reduced to one demand response bus per county, but effective today, April 1, all services will be suspended, according to MIDAS officials.

Previously, MIDAS Council of Governments had reduced services for DART by suspending all fixed routes and the Jefferson Lines daily routes and paratransit services, single person bus rides and the Prestage work shuttle will still be available. But starting today, single person bus rides and the Prestage work shuttle will be suspended. Paratransit rides will only be provided to those needing to go to the Dialysis Center.

Agency officials said they hoped to resume all transit services on Friday, May 1. More details will be released as information becomes available.
