Stanhope shooting still under investigation

Criminal charges are pending

STANHOPE — Police continue to investigate a shooting incident in Stanhope Saturday that left one person injured.

The injured individual, identified by authorities only as a male, was treated at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines and was released.

In a written statement, the Ellsworth-Jewell-Stanhope Police Department reported that the shooting is believed to be an “isolated incident with no threat to the public.”

The Police Department indicated that criminal charges are pending.

Police and emergency responders were dispatched to 665 Center St. on Saturday for a report of an individual who had been shot.

The incident is being investigated by the Ellsworth-Jewell-Stanhope Police Department, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
