Farmer Conversation Roundtable planned for Stanhope

The Hamilton Soil and Water Conservation District will hold a Farmer Conservation Roundtable discussion on Feb. 5, at Stanhope Community Center. The facilitated discussion for and by farmers and landowners who are interested in cover crops and strip-till or no-till will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m, with a breakfast served.

Organizers said the discussion will focus on points of interest to the farmers and landowners who have some experience using cover crops and strip-till or no-till. Topics may include cover crop and cash crop planting techniques and timing, what’s working for fertilizer and herbicide programs, and what methods of seeding cover crops are working in this area. All interested farmers and landowners are welcome whether they’ve used these conservation practices or not.

Agency and local non-governmental organizations and businesses supporting cover crop use will be in attendance. There will be no formal presentations, although several very experienced farmers are going to be in attendance to ask and answer questions.

RSVPs for the discussion are needed to help plan for food which is sponsored by the Hamilton Soil and Water Conservation District. 832-2916 ext. 3
