Webster City Police have released the names of two individuals who were found deceased Sunday in a Des Moines Street apartment.

The individuals have been identified as Mariangelys Ortiz, 28, and Abimelec Ortiz Figueroa 3 months. Both were staying at an apartment at 721 Des Moines St.

Police officials said autopsies were performed on both individuals by the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Des Moines. The findings of the autopsies will be released once the official causes of death have been determined.

Police and paramedics were called to the apartment on Sunday at 8:13 a.m. for a report of two people believed to be deceased.

Webster City Police Chief Shiloh Mork this was an isolated incident and there is no risk to the public.

Mork also said this is an active investigation and more information would be released as it becomes available. He said the investigators are asking the public to refrain from publishing false information on social media. This has been a traumatic incident for the family as well as the first responders who were on the scene, according to Mork. He cautioned that any information not released through official channels should not be considered accurate.

The Webster City Police Department is being assisted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office.
