Council to consider Sculpture location

The City Council of Webster City on Monday night will consider a location for a proposed new sculpture in West Twin Park. The council meets at 6 p.m. in the council chambers of City Hall.

The piece, entitled “Nexus,” is being created by artist Dan Perry. In his concept proposal, Perry said the sculpture “tells the narrative of Webster City, its past, present and future.” The proposed site of the sculpture is the northwest corner of the park.

The council will also consider a resolution accepting the work and approving Change Order No. 3 and Pay Request No. 5 in the amount of $38,162.83 and retainage of $27,700.64 in 30 days to Heartland Asphalt Inc. of Mason City. The firm completed the contract for the 2019 Street Improvement Projects.

The first reading of a proposed ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances pertaining to flood plain areas by adding definitions of “factory-built home” and “factory-built home park.”

A request from the line department to purchase a cable locator and fault finder from WESCO Distribution in Des Moines will be also be reviewed by the council.
