School board election Nov. 5

School board elections will be held in Hamilton County on Nov. 5 with the city elections.

Seven board seats across Hamilton County will be on the ballot.

In Webster City, two seats are are open. The District 2 director seat, currently held by Beth Van Diest, and an at large seat, held by Chuck Bonjour, will be on the ballot. Candidates who wish to run for the board need to obtain at least 50 signatures on the nomination petition.

In the South Hamilton Community School District, three seats are open. The District 2 Director seat, currently held by Duane Vavroch, the District 3 seat held by Amber VanDePol, and the District 5 Director seat, held by Joely Swenson, will be on the ballot. Candidates for the respective districts must obtain 26 signatures on nomination papers.

The Stratford District has two at large seats open. The seats held by Christina Bauer and Brad Westrum will be on the ballot. Ten signatures are needed on nomination papers for those wishing to run for the seats.

Nomination papers can be obtained from the school board secretary in the respective districts, from the county auditor’s office or on the Secretary of State’s website, www.sos.state.ia.us/elections/electioninfo/schoolelection.html.

Papers must be filed with the school secretary by Thursday, Sept. 19 by 5 p.m.
