Fareway Stores, Inc. partnered once again with the Muscular Dystrophy Association to host the 9th Annual Fareway MDA Golf Classic at Beaver Creek Golf Club in Grimes. The event raised over $166,800 for MDA of Iowa, making it another record-setting year for the golf tournament. Funds raised at this event will fund research and provide health care services and support for more than 1,700 MDA families across the state.

“We are proud to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association through this annual event that’s raised nearly $750,000 over the last nine years,” said Reynolds W. Cramer, Fareway President and CEO. “We want to thank our generous partners, who support us in helping find a cure for these muscle-debilitating diseases.”

Fifty-four vendor partners provided sponsorships and teams, making it a full tournament with 216 golfers. For the ninth year in a row, the event was presented by Keurig Dr. Pepper; other top sponsors included Dean Snyder Construction, PepsiCo, Tyson Fresh Meats and Wells Blue Bunny.

“The funds raised at this event are crucial to local families here in Iowa and helps fund ground-breaking research, a state-of-the-art Care Center at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and helps send kids to MDA Summer Camp where they make life-long friends and memories,” said MDA Development Director Brette Dowson.

In 2019, Fareway employees, customers and vendors raised over $420,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
