Farmers Market opens Wednesday

Several local vendors have opened a Wednesday afternoon farmers market in Webster City.

The vendors, most of whom also open up booths at the Saturday morning farmers market on Des Moines Street, offered a variety of produce, handmade items, home-baked goods, jams and honey.

The second market day helps produce dealers move more vegetables that may pass their peak of ripeness by the next Saturday market, according to one vendor.

The group of vendors sets up in the 700 North Parking lot from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays. What started as just a few is growing every week, according to Ron Casbon, one of the vendors. He said the second market gives another opportunity for customers to pick up some fresh vegetables or any of the other items offered for sale.
