Challenge is issued

Event to benefit area food pantries

The Enhance Hamilton County Foundation is issuing a Food Pantry challenge to Hamilton County residents throughout the month of September. Funds received on or before Sept. 30, will be matched by the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation dollar-for-dollar up to the first $2,000.

To participate in the Food Pantry Challenge, send checks to: Darcy Swon, Enhance Hamilton County Foundation, 501 Bank Street Suite 1, Webster City, Iowa 50595. Checks should be made out to Enhance Hamilton County Foundation with the name of the food pantry to be supported listed in the memo line. If no food pantry is indicated, it will be assigned to one. Cash donations are also welcome. Contact Darcy Swon to make donation arrangements of this type.

Hamilton County has six food pantries providing assistance to those in need: Upper Des Moines Opportunity (Webster City); Trinity Lutheran Church Food Pantry (Webster City); St. Paul Lutheran Church Food Pantry (Webster City); Asbury/ACE Food Pantry (Webster City); The Lord’s Cupboard/Bethesda Lutheran Church (Jewell); and the Stratford Food Pantry (Stratford).

The Enhance Hamilton County Foundation was formed in 2005 as an affiliate of the Greater Des Moines Foundation and is a philanthropic organization that leverages charitable resources and expertise to address community needs.
