Artists from Ohio, Missouri, Colorado, Wisconsin and Iowa will display sculptures in Webster City's West Twin Park for a juried sculpture event, according to Arts R Alive Chairperson Janet Adams. The two-night event is set for Aug. 7 and 8 in West Twin Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each evening.
The event is sponsored by Arts R Alive Sculpture Committee, which promotes sculpture as a public art form highlighting local amd regional artists. It is made possible by donations from local individuals and businesses and grants from the Webster City Hotel Motel tax.
Musical entertainment for the event include The Rowan McCartney & Friends Band, performing with a special Irish twist on Aug. 7. Area brass quintet Jive for Five will provide musical entertainment on Aug. t 8. The groups will play from 5 to 8 p.m. each evening
University of Northern Iowa Art department instructor Dan Perry is the featured speaker on Aug. 8 at 6:30 p.m. He will discuss the overall effect of public art in addition to comments about the specific sculptors and their pieces. Artists will also speak that evening.
Arts R Alive will provide wine, lemonade, and snacks for those who attend the art and music-filled evenings.
Meet and Greet
Arts R Alive in Webster City invites the public to meet some of the artists who have sculptures in the 2019 Sculpture Event at an Artist Meet and Greet on Saturday, Aug. 3 at InTandem, 501 Bank Street, Webster City from 4 to 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
