Vendors and volunteers are still needed for this year’s Junquefest coming up on Memorial Day weekend.

Junquefest is Webster City’s annual vintage and antiques show held downtown May 24-26. Officials with the Chamber of Commerce are organizing the event.

“We’re in full-swing preparation for Junquefest,” said Denise Smith, membership director at the Chamber of Commerce. Organizers met recently with the city to determine which streets will be closed during the celebration.

“We’ll be closing the street Thursday at 3 p.m. to allow for set up,” she said. “We’ll have signage out for vendors are well on Thursday.”

She said the public will be encouraged to park in the north alley lot and in the city lots on First Street and along First Street.

Smith said there are 40-plus vendors signed up so far. Last year there were 69 total vendors, including the food court. She said they anticipate having a full food court and aren’t accepting any additional food vendors at this time.

Some of the food vendors planning to attend include Sweet Treats from Jewell, HyVee, the Meat Wagon from Jewell and Los Primos Grill from West Des Moines.

“The hospital board and Rotary Club will be doing pork burgers on Friday and Saturday, and the American Legion will join us for their pancake breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings,” Smith said.

Music will be featured in the Availa Bank Plaza throughout the weekend.

Peterman said there were many returning vendors, but also new sellers who will be setting up shop for the weekend.

She said requests for vendor applications are coming in daily and there’s still time for sellers to sign up for Junquefest.

“People can visit our website or contact the Chamber on Facebook,” said Smith.

“There are single and double spots still available,” Peterman said.

The organizers are also looking for volunteers to help throughout the weekend.

“We’ll have a volunteer roster made up so people will know what their tasks will be,” she said. “If volunteers can call our office, we’ll get their information and days and times they want to help, we’ll add them to the roster.”

Peterman said most of the volunteer help will be based on two-hour shifts.

“We could also use help with parking Thursday night as vendors roll in,” Smith said. “And Sunday afternoon during tear-down.”

Junquefest will be open Friday, May 24 from noon until 7 p.m., Saturday, May 25, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, May 26, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
