FORT DODGE — A head-on crash involving a car and pickup truck on the Kenyon Road Bridge left one woman dead and two others injured Thursday afternoon, according to Sgt. Aaron Smidt, of the Iowa State Patrol.
Ruth Lucille Smid, 85, of Fort Dodge, was declared dead at the scene.
The crash was reported at about 1:38 p.m. on the bridge between South Eighth Street and Avenue C.
According to Iowa State Patrol crash reports, Marvin Lee Hulse, 89, of Fort Dodge, was driving a Chevrolet Impala southwest on the bridge, towards UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center, when the vehicle crossed the concrete center divider and struck a Dodge Dakota pickup truck head-on.
The truck, driven by David Leroy Stone, 54, of Harcourt, was traveling northeast in the other lane of travel, Smidt said.

The impact of the crash sent the car into the east shoulder, with the front end facing west.
The pickup truck came to rest on its side. It was partially on the concrete divider.
Smid was a passenger in the car, according to the reports.
Firefighters had to use extrication tools to help Stone out of the truck he was driving. That driver was transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center and is in stable condition.
Hulse was transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center before being airlifted to a hospital in Des Moines.
