The City Council of Webster City will hold a public hearing tonight to consider the 2018 Wilson Brewer Park Cabins dismantling and reconstruction project and are expected to award the contract for the project.

The Council will meet at City Hall at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

According to a Council memo, the project has been in the planning stages for several years. A total of $40,000 was appropriated by the City Council in the current budget and $25,000 in assistance was received in the form of a Hotel/Motel Tax Grant recommendation. The remainder of the project funds is expected to come from private donations.

A bid letting was held on Nov. 28 at City Hall and Schlotfeldt Engineering has recommended that the bid be awarded to Heritage Woodworks of Clemons, Iowa. The firm turned in a bid of $126,060. No other contractors bid on the project, according to the memo.

A request by All Cultures Equal for a year-end funding of $15,000 will be considered by the City Council. John Boughton who serves on the ACE board of directors, gave a presentation at the last council meeting and told the council members that the organization is facing financial difficulties and has shut-down most of its services due to lack of funding. The group made a similar funding request at a recent Hamilton County Supervisors meeting.

Also on the agenda is a public hearing on the Development Agreement with Kenyon Hill Ridge LLC. At the Nov. 19 meeting, the Council approved an amendment to the Residential Urban Renewal Plan A for the project.

The development agreement concerns TIF money associated with the new housing and infrastructure project along Edgewood Drive. The project consists of two 30-unit apartment complexes, duplexes and single family homes located between Van Diest Medical Center and Edgewood Drive in the southeast section of Webster City.
