Back to school events planned

The start of the 2018-2019 school year for Webster City students is just around the corner. Classes begin Thursday, Aug. 23.

Teachers and staff are hosting several events to welcome students back as well as to meet students new to the building or the district.

On Monday, Aug. 20, new students, freshmen and parents are encouraged to attend orientation in Prem Sahai Auditorium beginning at 5:30 p.m. From 6 to 6:45 p.m. that night, there will be an open house for all high school students and parents. Students will be able to pick up schedules and reconnect with friends and teachers.

At 6:45 p.m., students and parents will hear Athletic Director Bob Howard discuss the district’s academic eligibility and good conduct policies.

Sunset Heights Elementary School will also hold its back-to-school night on Monday, Aug. 20. Students and families are invited to attend the open house from 5 to 7 p.m.

Pleasant View Elementary School will hold its back-to-school night Tuesday, Aug. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Northeast Hamilton Elementary’s Open House will be held on Thursday, Aug. 16 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Students, parents and district patrons are welcome to visit the school and tour the newly constructed green house and the expanded Mighty Trojan Day Care facility.
