Interns to help with Junquefest

Volunteers also needed to staff the event

The Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce have announced that two interns will be working with the organization as it gets ready for the upcoming 2018 Junquefest.

Breean Hoyt will be graduating in May from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with a minor in MIS. She was a Projects Coordinator for the Visitor’s Bureau in Oakhurst, CA., and previously owned her own business, so brings a lot of experience to the table.

Shannon Swon is also a student at Iowa State University studying Event Management with a focus on nonprofit work. Since attending college, she has been a dedicated member of the ISU Love Your Melon Campus Crew and holds an Executive position as one of their Family Outreach and Event Coordinators.

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are being sought for Junquefest 2018 which will be held over Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-27 in downtown Webster City.

Volunteers are needed during show hours:

• Friday, May 25 from 12 to 7 p.m.

• Saturday, May 26 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Sunday, May 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“This is the largest event that the Chamber coordinates each year and we need your help. We have a task list of things that need to be done prior to and during the event. Please consider giving some of your time to help us make this the best one yet,” said Vendor Coordinator and Chamber Board Member, Denise Smith from SOS Vintage.

Those available to help can sign up for specific tasks in 2-hour time slots. To streamline the process and to provide updated information about what opportunities are available, the Chamber has created an online sign up form. Visit the JunqueFest website at www.junquefest.com website, scroll down to the Volunteer section and click on the button that says “Choose a spot on SignUp” to view volunteer options available and to choose the preferred times. Just use an email address to sign-up. Your email address will not be shared. You may also contact the Chamber office and the staff can sign you up manually.

There is still time to sign up to be a vendor with registration online at www.junquefest.com. Show information and a running list of vendors is being added to the website as it comes available.

“It is our hope that this event will increase the awareness of what Webster City has to offer so more people will come back and bring their friends and family,” said Linda Christianson Chamber Executive Director. “Last year we had thousands of people come for the event and we had a lot of positive feedback about our businesses and a boost to our local economy.”

Contact the Chamber office at 515-832-2564 or stop at the office at 628 Second Street, Webster City.
