Young announces bid for supervisor

Jewell Republican to seek District 3 seat

JEWELL – Jewell City Councilman Rick Young today announced he is running for Hamilton County District 3 Supervisor.

Young also serves as treasurer of the Hamilton County Economic Development Board, president of the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation, Hamilton County Relay for Life Committee, co-chair of the Hamilton County Republican Central Committee and president of the Financial Literacy Council of Greater Hamilton County.

His past public service includes Midas Council of Government board, North Central Iowa Regional Sports Authority board and Hamilton Township Trustee. He served 6 years on the board of Directors of the National Buick Club of America where he served 3 years as President.

He is a graduate of South Hamilton Community Schools and has attended continued education classes at Des Moines Area Community College, Iowa State University, Deere & Co. and John Deere Financial.

Young and his wife Janet live in Jewell. They have 3 grown children Grant (Meg), Adam (Sarah) and April.

David Young, Stanhope, who currently holds the seat on the Board of Supervisors, announced last week that he will not seek another term. He will wrap up his current term in December.
