About 50 Webster City High School students and area adults gathered at Fuller Hall on Friday to address youth-adult connections and work readiness skills in small group discussions. The exercise ended in finding action steps that will lead to the goal of Hamilton County eventually being the best place to raise a child in rural Iowa, according to Kathy Getting of PowerUp YOUth.

The event was the sixth year that Power Up YOUth coalition members organized the summit. The staff from Building Families, Children and Families of Iowa, Community & Family Resources, Hamilton County Public Health, ISU Extension and Outreach: Hamilton County, and Upper Des Moines Opportunity worked together to organize the summit over the past months, Getting said. A few community members who have experience in the two topics of conversation were invited to join the small group discussions with youth.

Webster City Rotary Club and Caseys provided food for the event.
