Downtown Webster City was buzzing with activity Sunday afternoon during this year’s Christmas in the City.

Local businesses were open from noon to 5 p.m., giving the public a chance to do some early Christmas shopping.

Children of all ages visited Santa and Mrs. Claus at First American Bank Plaza throughout the afternoon.

Members of the Webster City High School football team were on hand at the chamber to help children make ornaments for the lighted tree.

Before the tree lighting, a large crowd gathered to hear the carolers stationed at First American Bank Plaza.

The tree lighting ceremony was held shortly after 5 p.m. with a large number of residents in attendance. Attendees were treated to hot chocolate and sugar cookies.

New Webster City City Manager Daniel Ortiz-Hernandez and his family were present to flip the light switch.
