Coloring the street

Grab a paint brush and reserve a spot on Seneca Street for the Sixth Annual Arts R Alive Sculpture and Street Painting Event.

Businesses, individuals, and other organizations can purchase an 18 by 18 foot square on Seneca Street to paint and help support West Twin Parks and the Arts R Alive Webster City organization.

Individuals can begin painting their squares on Friday at 10 a.m. and can paint through Sunday.

“It’s a very fun event,” said Sherry Adams. “People should try to partake in something fun like this.”

Participants must bring their own materials and supplies. Adams encouraged participants to scout around for paint that people around town no longer need . Paint must be washable latex.

According to Adams, 14 spots have already been sold.

One square costs $50. To reserve a square call Adams at (515) 297-1540. Checks can be made out to Arts R Alive. Squares can be reserved through Friday.

The Sculpture Event will be Aug. 3 and 4 in West Twin park located at the corner of Bank and Seneca Streets. Fifteen sculptures were submitted for consideration. Eight were selected to be displayed at the park through the National Call for Artists and jury process.
