VDMC welcomes general orthopedic surgeon Sreedhar Somisetty, MD
Dr. Sreedhar Somisetty will join the provider team at Van Diest Medical Center beginning in January.
Dr. Somisetty is a general orthopedic surgeon with 25 years of clinical experience, working in diverse practice settings. He completed his Doctor of Medicine degree from Osmania Medical College in India, with his residency in Orthopedic Surgery from Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences in India. Following residency, Dr. Somisetty completed four years of fellowship training in orthopedic subspecialties at respected institutions, including University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas; Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston; SUNY Stony Brook in New York; and Boston University Medical Center in Boston.
Dr. Somisetty’s clinical experience ranges from teaching and mentorship of students as Clinical Assistant Professor and Chief of Orthopedics at University of Arizona, Southern Arizona VA Health Care System in Tucson, Arizona, to providing full-spectrum orthopedic care in rural Iowa, at Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa, where he was staff orthopedic surgeon for 16 years. Most recently, Dr. Somisetty served as staff orthopedic surgeon, section chief of Orthopedics at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, since 2019.
As a general orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Somisetty treats hips, knees, hands, and shoulders, doing joint replacement and arthroscopic surgeries. He will be providing general orthopedic services in a full-time capacity at VDMC, beginning in January 2026.
