Wallace honored with regional award

Dr. Kelli Wallace

FORT DODGE – Dr. Kelli Wallace, along with her staff at the Webster County Family Planning Clinic, were twice nominated and recently honored as a Triple A Recipient by the BEE Inspired CAPP program. The Triple A award recipient is an individual who is deemed to be an approachable adult in the community when it comes to tough discussions surrounding topics such as sexual health, testing, and birth control. The award was presented to Dr. Wallace on June 26 by BEE Inspired CAPP Program Coordinator, Tiffany Larson.

“The work that you are doing is so important,” said Larson during the award presentation. “It’s exciting to know that our youth are seeking you out for advice and for health needs. We appreciate all that you do to help empower youth and adults to make healthy, informed decisions through education and community awareness in the serving area!”

Wallace and the staff at the Family Planning Clinic were nominated by two area teens who asked to remain anonymous.

“Their job could be really uncomfortable since they talk to people about sex and examine them and give them advice about sex and protection, but instead they’re really open and helpful,” read the first nomination. “I didn’t feel pressured or that I was wrong in asking questions.”

“Dr. Wallace and the staff at her clinic are open to answering all of my questions and they don’t make me feel bad or dumb,” read the second nomination. “She has helped me with a lot of things that I needed help with including exams and birth control and afterwards I didn’t feel guilty or ashamed but empowered instead. I plan to continue seeing Dr. Wallace at the clinic.

The Webster County Family Planning Clinic is part of Webster County’s Public Health Department and serves residents in Webster, Hamilton, Humboldt, and Wright counties. The Family Planning Clinic serves patients of all income levels including the under insured and uninsured, and provides well male and female exams, testing for sexually transmitted diseases and infections, birth control, and many other family planning services.
