April 1 is deadline for reservations to attend Al Welsh Orchestra performance
The performance of the Al Welsh Orchestra big band on April 17 will be a unique opportunity to enjoy the dance music of the Big Band era. Sponsored by the Jay Nugent reunion, the evening will include those returning for a weekend reflecting on the memories and music from the WCHS classes of 1975 through 1981, who were in the band then directed by Nugent.
Former Webster City High School graduate Steve Cook is now the owner and the director of the Al Welsh Orchestra, which specializes in Big Band music. This band originated in Webster City. The social and dance will begin at 6 p.m. on April 17 at the Briggs Woods Conference Center.
Cook is a member of the Class of 1977.
Nugent and his wife Cheri will be attending all the weekend events to share memories, stories, laughter, and of course music.
There is limited seating at the Friday night event. Tickets are available for $35 single/$65 pair. This will include light appetizers and dessert. A cash bar will be open during the evening.
Payment is due by April 1. Checks can be mailed to Miriam Carlson 1819 390th St. Stanhope, Iowa 50595 or Venmo @miriam-carlson.
There will not be any tickets available after April 1 or at the door.
