Christmas In the City events begin at 8 a.m. Saturday

The business community will be in full Christmas mode tomorrow as Christmas in the City kicks off in Webster City.

The first event is at 8 a.m. with an Ugly Sweater Bootcamp at SNAP Fitness, at 806 Seneca St. followed by a breakfast with Santa at HyVee.

The Grinch will be visiting Empower Nutrition at 916 Superior from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Holiday Henna will be done at The Cat Hut, at1118 2nd Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Jane Young House Festival of Trees, at 629 Elm Street, which opens to the public Friday night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. will also be open on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Other activities throughout the day Saturday during the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerces’ “Christmas in the City” are as follows:

10-11:30 a.m.: Sock Gnomes at Legacy Learning Art Studio at 719 Seneca Street ($20 registration fee)

10 a..m. to Noon: Christmas Cookie Decorating at Kendall Young Library, located at 1201 Willsoon Avenue

Noon to 2 p.m.: Three events running concurrently in Wilson Brewer Park which is located at 220 Ohio Street:

1. Snapshots with Santa in the Jameson Cabin

2. Vintage Toy Shop with a take home craft in Groves/Brewer Cabin

3. Live Christmas music by Spencer Suchan in the Mulberry Church with vintage nativity on display

Cookies and hot chocolate will also be available during the 2 hours.

1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Homemade holiday cards will be made at Legacy Learning at 719 Seneca Street (freewill donation)

2 p.m.: Candy Cane Hike at Briggs Woods Park, shelter house #2

2 p.m.: “Daddy’s Home” movie at Webster Theater

3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Mosaic Ornaments at Legacy Learning Art Studio at 719 Seneca Street (no fee, freewill donation)

4 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Cinnamin Rolls and Chili served at American Legion located at 726 Second Street

5:30 p.m.: Karl Lighted Christmas Parade, with lineup near West Twin Park, tree lighting in Availa Plaza and hot chocolate

6:30 to 8 p.m.: Live Nativity at First Congregational United Church of Christ at 1000 Willson Avenue

6:30 p.m.: Live music by Jake McVey at Wildcat Distilling Company at 626 2nd Street

7 p.m.: Webster City Community Chorus & Handbells Christmas Concert at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 1229 Kathy Lane

A second performance of the Webster City Community Chorus and the Webster City Community Handbells will be held on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran church.
