Witches, superheros and princesses will invade downtown Webster City tonight when the Webster City businesses roll out the welcome mat for the Annual Downtown Trick or Treat.

The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.

This is in addition to the residential Halloween Trick or Treat night, which will be on Friday, October 31.

“Downtown Trick-or-Treat is a community favorite event,” said Anna Woodward, director of the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce. “This year, we expect to top our past year’s participants with 45 organizations already registered.”

Webs & Wheels allows children to get a close look at the vehicles that serve specific purposes; it’s a Touch-A-Truck event. These will be located in the 400, 500, 600 and 700 blocks of Second Street.

The scavenger hunt has pictures for the young and clue-based for older children. The scavenger hunt will continue until October 31.

“We expect between 300 and 500 kids, but we’ve had reports of retailers passing out up to 800 pieces of candy during the event,” Woodward said.

“It’s earlier this month due to the parent-teacher conferences and the residential trick or treating event will happen on the actual Halloween day, October 31.”
