Readers Theatre to meet Sunday

Webster City Community Theatre’s selection for Sunday’s Readers Theatre is “One Christmas Eve at Evergreen Mall.” The group will meet at 3 p.m. as Mark Andrew leads the reading of the script. Bring a snack to share and the beverage of your choice. Masks are required.

The script follows eight intertwined stories in a Midwestern mall on the last day of shopping before the holiday. A diverse cast of characters navigate first meetings, second chances, and last-minute choices. The cast includes a lovesick mall Santa, an overeager mall cop, a pair of brainy misfit teenagers, a pair of battling actors in a production of A Christmas Carol, a petulant college freshman, and a pair of newlyweds. “One Christmas Eve wraps the joys and sorrows of the season into one festive package and will remind you of “Almost, Maine” which WCCT produced in 2014.
