The generosity of the family of Steve Hall will carry on his legacy and passion of helping others for years to come. Steve started his career in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in 1985. As a paramedic specialist, his passion for patient care led him to teaching at Iowa Central Community College for 14 years as an adjunct faculty member. He spent countless hours in the classroom sharing his knowledge and skills. Part of the EMS curriculum is providing training on the different equipment used during an emergency call, including the specialized EMS responder bag donated by the Hall family.

Each bag contains numerous pieces of medical equipment and medicines to treat patients during an emergency call. Paul Arens, EMS Coordinator for Iowa Central says the bags are an important tool used in the training process.

“It’s critical to train with updated equipment to properly prepare students for the workforce. This donation will greatly assist Iowa Central paramedic students to prepare for their future careers,: he said.

The Hall family says remembering Steve through a gift to the Iowa Central EMS program is very fitting.

“He had great memories of teaching the classes and took great pride in knowing that he was a part of their journey for a career dedicated to helping others during critical times,” said Jolene Hall.

In addition to teaching, Jolene says her husband enjoyed spending time with family, his dog Gunner, hunting, and fishing. Steve passed away in July of 2020 at the age of 76 after battling health issues.
