WCCT announces scholarship awards

Webster City Community Theatre proudly announces four recipients for its 2020 WCCT Endowed Scholarships. Daniel Blankenship, Kaitlynn Seeley, Maren Borer, and

Gianna Borer will each receive $550. The awards are based on academic success, community involvement, and involvement with the performing arts.

Daniel Blankenship is a 2019 graduate of Webster City High School and past recipient of this scholarship. He attends the University of South Dakota pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre. He appeared in nine productions at WCCT and served as the youth representative on its board of directors. He was in four plays and speech activities at his alma mater. Daniel continued his involvement in the performing arts in “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” at USD.

Kaitlynn Seeley is also a 2019 Webster City High School graduate and past WCCT scholarship recipient. She attends Iowa State University, majoring in Instrumental Music Education. Her theatre experience included eight shows at WCCT and three at the high school. Kaitlynn also served on the WCCT board of directors as the youth representative and was a finalist for an Iowa Association of Community Theatre’s Award of Excellence in Acting.

Maren Borer is a 2018 graduate of Webster City High School who is attending the University of Northern Iowa, majoring in Theatre Performance. Her theatre involvement includes nine WCCT productions, six shows at the local high school, and half a dozen plays at UNI.

Gianna Borer will be attending Wartburg College to major in Vocal Music Education following her graduation this spring. She has been involved in ten WCCT productions, participated in and assisted with Camp Creamery, and served on its board of directors as a youth representative. Gianna was active in three productions and large group and individual speech activities at Webster City High School. She also participated in the Iowa High School Musical Theatre Awards Showcase at the Civic Center.

Funding for the WCCT Endowed Scholarship was established in 2015 with proceeds from the “Roots and Wings Concert” by Simon Estes.
