Webster City Community Theatre will be holding a Readers’ Theatre Sunday, Jan. 12 at 3 p.m., to read “The Sound of Music,” led by Wil Groves.

When Maria, a postulate seeking admission to a convent, proves too high spirited for the religious life, she is sent to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Her growing rapport with the children gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain and they marry. Back from the honeymoon, they discover the Nazis have invaded Austria and demand the Captain’s service in their navy. The family narrowly escapes over the mountains to Switzerland in an inspirational finale.

“The Sound of Music” will be performed on the Webster City Community Theatre stage in July, with auditions being held March 29 and 30.
