Wood Shop Wednesdays begin Sept. 19

Area residents interested in learning about wood crafting or honing their woodworking skills are invited to register for Wood Shop Wednesdays, offered through Legacy Learning Boone River Valley this fall.

Instructor Rusty Farrington will lead the four sessions on Sept. 19, 26, Oct. 3 and 10 at the Webster City High School from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The workshop will focus on developing skills as participants build the project of their choice. Farrington will work individually with participants, assisting where requested, demonstrating specific techniques such as dovetail joints, suggesting possible solutions to problems encountered and pointing out design opportunities along the way. Participants can come with an idea of what they wish to build and the wood necessary to construct it. Bringing a set of plans and tools will help make the entire process go faster, organizers said. The first night can be used for developing plans, sharpening tools or the student can begin the building process immediately.

A list of supplies is available on the Legacy Learning website, wwww.legacylearningbrv.org. Participants can also register for the workshop on the website. The cost for the workshop is $100.
