The all-new Van Diest Medical Center gift shop is now open for business.

Members of the hospital auxiliary gathered Monday morning to kick off the grand opening of the shop, located just inside the main entrance of the hospital. The gift shop is a division of Van Diest Medical Center Auxiliary. A new name for the shop will be unveiled in the near future, officials said.

Auxiliary members said the shop features new merchandise selected at the Minnesota markets as well as from special local vendors.

Some of the new items include gift baskets, gift items, home decor and other everyday necessities.

During the grand opening this week, shoppers will find discounts and chances to sign up for the grand prize gift basket that will be awarded at the end of the week.

Karen Senters is the new manager of the shop, but the operation is staffed by auxiliary volunteers. VDMC Auxiliary board members include Sue Anderson, Fay Cline, Marie Karbula, Lorraine Habben, Connie Gilbert, Karen Centers and Sharon Perry. Lori Foster and Chris Wright are the hospital liaisons to the auxiliary.

The gift shop is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
