Scouts food, pop can drive set for Saturday

Webster City’s Boy Scout Troop 17 and Cub Scout Pack 583 want to remind the public of their annual food and pop can drive coming up on Saturday, April 27.

Residents are asked to set items on their front step by 9 a.m., including any new, unopened, non perishable food and/or hygiene items, as well as any redeemable bottles or cans.

Scouts and their families will be canvassing the community collecting these items until 11 a.m. Residents may also drop off items that morning in the parking lot at Asbury United Methodist Church at 723 Bank St., as the Scouts will be sorting and organizing items there from 9-11 a.m.

All can/bottle proceeds will go toward funding Webster City’s many worthwhile Scouting activities throughout the year. Food and hygiene items will be donated and delivered to Upper Des Moines Opportunity that afternoon.
