— Daily Freeman-Journal photos by Billie Shelton Scores of youngsters from preschoolers who could barely walk up to sixth graders were eager to take part in the annual event. Members of the Clear Lake Sailors were there to make sure the morning went smoothly.
“Look, what I found, Mom!” young Lydia Gansen, 14 months, shows her mother, Kendra Gansen, at the Saturday morning Easter egg hunt in Stanhope. Dad Mark Gansen was nearby looking on. The Gansens are from rural Jewell.
The Easter bunny is always a visitor at the annual event. He posed for photos with many of the participants before the hunt started. In addition to hundreds of pieces of candy, the hunters were on the lookout for a golden egg, one for each age group, that meant a special prize for the lucky one who found it.

The Stanhope town park was buzzing with activity Saturday morning as scores of youngsters gathered for the annual Easter egg hunt. The yearly event is sponsored by the Stanhope Development Group, Inc. assisted by the Clear Lake Sailors 4-H Club. The lovely weather attracted parents and grandparents as well who came to watch and assist in the springtime fun.
