WCCT Readers Theatre to peruse ‘Last Gas’

Webster City Community Theatre ushers in a new year of Readers Theatre on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Mark Andrew will be leading the group in the reading of “Last Gas” by John Cariani. Patrons will recall that Cariani is the playwright who wrote “Almost, Maine” which several community theatres have enjoyed bringing to the stage. WCCT performed it in 2015.

Nat Paradis is a Red Sox-loving part-time dad who manages Paradis’ Last Convenience Store, the last convenient place to get gas-or anything-before the Canadian border to the north and the North Maine Woods to the west. When an old flame returns to town, Nat gets a chance to rekindle a romance he gave up on years ago. But sparks fly as he’s forced to choose between new love and old. “Last Gas” take a hilarious and heartbreaking hard look at love lost and found, and at what it means to “get back to happy.”

All interested are invited to 1001 Willson Avenue Sunday afternoon to read the entire story. Bring a snack to share and your own beverage.
