The Great Oreo Taste-off is tonight

Ketta Lubberstedt-Arjes, Kendall Young Library director, center, holds a plate of Oreo cookies as the library gets ready for The Great Oreo Taste-Off to be held tonight at 6:30 pm, with 22 different flavors provided for the public to come sample. The Great Oreo Taste-Off will be held this evening at 6:30 pm at the Kendall Young Library.

Those attending can sample 22 different flavors of Oreo-brand cookies the library has procured. With flavors such as Cinnamon, Cherry Coke, Mint, and Strawberry Shortcake, there are bound to be some new favorites discovered, according to Director Ketta Lubberstedt-Arjes.

The entire event will be casual, with white or chocolate milk provided during the tasting. Cookie samples will be cut in half, so people aren’t eating 22 whole cookies during the event.

Paper ballots will need to be filled out with your favorite flavor and the winning cookie will later be announced via Facebook.

“There has been a huge market for weird flavored oreos online,” said Lubberstedt-Arjes. “After seeing other libraries doing this type of event and getting encouraged from a friend, we decided to try it here. Hopefully there will be a good turn-out. We may do a Chip Taste-Off in the future, as well.”
