Forty-eight seventh- and eighth-grade 4-H members along with seven 4-H adult chaperones from 10 counties traveled to Kansas City, Missouri for three days and two nights. They toured the Arabia Steamboat Museum to learn about the preservation process and enjoyed a Broadway performance of The Little Mermaid at the Starlight Theater. Participants explored careers while visiting the SeaLife Aquarium and in the afternoon the toured The Monday Museum, part Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. From The Money Museum, they walked across the street to visit the World War 1 Memorial and Museum. The trip concluded with a Royals game as well as a day at Worlds of Fun. 4-H’ers enjoyed meeting each other and sharing in a fun learning Kansas City experience. They shared ideas of how they might tell about their trip experiences through 4-H projects like woodworking, photography, displays, and more. Participants describe the trip as a “guarantee to have fun” and “make a lot of friends and memories.” The Intermediate trip is one example of the type of opportunities available through the 4-H program.
