Opera House Jam session is Friday night

BLAIRSBURG?- The Blairsburg Opera House will hold its Jam Session on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Not the change of date.

The coffee pot is always on and those attending are asked to bring a snack to share.

Kamrar Lions Christmas Party set for Saturday

KAMRAR?- The Kamrar Lions will hold its 47th annual Christmas Party on Dec. 19 at the Lions Club Building.

Coffee and doughnuts will be served at 2 p.m. and Santa will arrive at 3 p.m. Cash drawings will be held and each child will receive a toy.

Lighted Drive open through end of December

The Holiday Lighted Drive at the Briggs Woods Park Campground will be open evenings through the end of December. Lighted displays have been set up by area businesses and organizations.

There is no charge to drive through, but a box has been set up to collect free will donations.

Santa’s Workshop set for Kendall Young Library Saturday

Children and families are invited to Santa’s Workshop at Kendall Young Library on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Children will have an opportunity to visit with Santa and share their Christmas wish lists as well as make some holiday crafts. Volunteers will be available to assist with the crafts.

Those attending will also have a chance to decorate a cookie and have refreshments. The event is free of charge.

Community invited to take part in Christmas at the Bridge

Christmas at The Bridge will return on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

All area families are invited to attend at no cost and no reservations are required. Each family member can select one gift to give to someone on their Christmas list.

After selecting the gift, volunteers willl wrap it and attendees can also make card.

Treats will also be served.

Progressive Christmas program returns Sunday

STRATFORD?- The time for the 2nd Annual Progressive Community Christmas Program is drawing near. Join the Stratford area churches on Sunday, at 4:30 pm. Meet Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth, and the angel Gabriel in the Fellowship Hall of the Stratford Lutheran Church. See the live sheep in the field, and journey with the shepherds to Bethlehem (Calvary Methodist Church) to experience the wonder of the birth of Jesus, the King, in a stable. Travel on to the First Baptist Church for the arrival of the Magi from the East and learn the significance of the gifts presented to the child, Jesus.

Valet service will be available at the Baptist Church as you arrive in the twilight. Plan to stay for snacks and beverages. Everyone is welcome.

Christmas Dance planned for Fuller Hall Saturday

Iowa Central Community College and the Fuller Hall Recreation Center are sponsoring a Christmas Dance featuring Tom Steinkoenig and his Sentimental Swing Band Saturday at Fuller Hall, 625 Bank Street, Webster City. Sentimental Swing is a dance band playing music from the big band era including swing, foxtrots, waltzes and polkas and is open to all couples, singles, and even the younger dancers.

The dance starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. Dust off those dance shoes, bring your significant other, and join the Sentimental Swing Band for a night of lively and entertaining music. Tickets are sold at the door for $10 a person.

Christmas bazaar, bake sale and soup lunch is Saturday

Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 1100 Mary Lane, will host a Christmas bazaar, bake sale and soup supper on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Carryout soup will be available.
