Audrienne Swedlund will celebrate her 90th birthday on May 7 with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford.

She was born in Dedham, IA and her family moved to Boone, where she grew up. She graduated from Drake University. She and Weldon Swedlund were married April 12, 1945. Upon Weldon’s return from the military in 1946, they moved to their farm outside Stratford, where she lives now. Weldon died in 2011.

Besides farming, they operated Midwest Order Buyers, first from the farm, and then at the Webster City Stockyards. They both wrote columns for the Stratford Courier. Audrienne was Department President for the American Legion Auxiliary in 1991-1992. She is a long-time member of Calvary UMC.

The open house will be hosted by her family: Alaire Willits, Boxholm; Neil and Linda Swedlund, Stratford; Mark and Janice Swedlund, Ankeny; and her 12 grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law, and 11 great grandchildren, ages 23 to 7 months.
