Strong run
EAGLE GROVE — The Webster City boys cross country team continued their strong run, placing third here Tuesday at the Dick Bell Invitational hosted by Eagle Grove.
Justin Callahan led the way for the Lynx, as the senior was seventh overall in 17:47.
Aiden Wardell finished 20th and Jack Barner was 21st. Gabe Thumma finished 27th and Kaleb Draeger was 35th.
Securing team gold was Forest City, as Algona finished second behind race winner Gavin Weber.
For the girls, they placed seventh overall led by Izzy Grossoehme’s 12th place showing in 21:58. Forest City was first followed by Humboldt, Algona, Emmetsburg, South Hardin and Bishop Garrigan.
Mckenna Buakham was 41st, Julia Griep finished 42nd, Marlene Saavedra was 55th and Rubi Andrade-Murillo finished 68th.
“It was a beautiful night to run,” WCHS head coach Derek Turner said. “Perfect temps and great times for all.”
Humboldt’s Avery Fisher topped teammate Brynn Malo for the individual title.
Webster City heads to Algona next Tuesday for the North Central Conference meet.
