Casady shoots 97, places 12th at Fort Dodge Invite

FORT DODGE — The Webster City girls’ golf team took three players to compete in Friday’s Fort Dodge Invite at the par-71 Fort Dodge Country Club — not enough to factor into the team race, but good competition none the less leading into Wednesday’s Class 3A regional.

As she has in nearly every meet over the past two seasons, Katie Casady led the way for the Lynx. The 2021 state qualifier fired a 97 — 47 on the front 9 and 48 on the back — to finish 12th overall in the field of 37 players.

Alley Odland posted a 100 to finish 18th, and Carly Appel was 26th with a round of 109.

Humboldt won the individual and team titles. Nora Carlson was atop the leaderboard with a 76, as she led the Wildcats’ 357 team score.

WCHS will head to Clear Lake on Wednesday for the 3A Region 4 tournament. Joining the Lynx at Veterans Memorial Golf Course will be Algona, Charles City, Clear Lake, Crestwood, Decorah, Hampton-Dumont/CAL, Independence, Iowa Falls-Alden, Vinton-Shellsburg, Waverly-Shell Rock and West Delaware.
