WCHS girls 6th at NCC, Lions champs

MASON CITY — Katie Casady and Ella Dinsdale shared 13th place on the individual leaderboard with rounds of 106, as they led the Webster City girls’ golf team to a 451 and sixth-place finish at yesterday’s North Central Conference tournament.

Pre-meet favorite Clear Lake navigated the terrain at the Mason City Country Club better than the rest of the field. The Lions put three players in the top four and fired a 355 to win the team title easily by 32 strokes over runner-up Humboldt (387). Humboldt’s Nora Carlson denied Clear Lake all of the hardware. Carlson fired a 76 to claim the individual crown by one shot over the Lions’ Meghan DeLong (77). Clear Lake’s Rebecca DeLong (84) and Jaden Ainley (95) were next, followed by Iowa Falls-Alden’s Rana Janes (96).

Alley Odland added a 112 for WCHS, and Carly Appel closed out the team scoring with a 127.
