JEWELL — The South Hamilton wrestling team closed out the regular season with a pair of dual losses on its home mat Tuesday night.

The Hawks’ third-ranked Lane Swenson (170 pounds), Brent Greenfield (182) and fourth-ranked Trevor Thompson (195) all went 2-0, but depth carried Manson-Northwest Webster (51-24) and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (58-24) to wins over South Hamilton.

Keyton Remsburg (113) and Colton Willis (285) both picked up one win on the night. South Hamilton was open at three weights and gave up 18 free points in both duals.

Swenson, a 2020 state medalist who heads into Saturday’s Class 1A sectional tournament with a 35-1 record, decked both of his opponents. He pinned Manson-Northwest Webster’s Trevor Condon in 2:50 and then needed just 57 seconds to blow through CGD’s Mason Allen.

Swenson’s lone loss this season was to top-ranked (2A) Jared Voss of West Delaware last month at the Perry Invitational.

Greenfield (33-6) also ended both of his bouts early. He flattened the Cougars’ Austin Jaeschke in only 19 seconds and disposed of the Cowboys’ Niklas Christopherson in 1:00.

Thompson (26-3) picked up a forfeit win in the first dual at 220 and then moved back down to 195 to take on CGD’s Nash Lienemann, a match that lasted just 1:45.

Willis (26-9) bumped up to heavyweight to pin Manson-Northwest Webster’s Brayden Bates in 3:58. Remsburg (20-11) decked CGD’s Kaeden Langfitt in 2:16.

South Hamilton will host the sectional on Saturday. Also in the field will be AGWSR, Belmond-Klemme, Nashua-Plainfield, North Butler-Clarksville, Rockford, Tripoli and West Fork.
