All 5 starters in double figures, No. 6 SH boys race past Rams by 27

Peters finds his shot, scores 20; Grove adds 13 and does the job defensively

JEFFERSON — Sixth-ranked (Class 2A) South Hamilton showed very few signs of rust after a nine-day layoff here last night, as all five starters scored in double figures in a Heart of Iowa Conference boys’ basketball runaway.

The Hawks outscored Greene County 41-18 in the first and third quarters to cruise to a 75-48 victory.

“It was good to get back on the court and we came ready to play,” South Hamilton head coach Nathan Hill said.

The balanced offense was the driving force for South Hamilton (13-1, 9-1 HOIC), led by Logan Peters with 20 points to go along with four assists and three steals. After struggling with his shot over the past few games, the senior forward connected on 8 of 15 shots, including 4 of 8 from behind the 3-point arc.

“Logan found his stroke,” Hill said.

Conner Hill produced 15 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Quinton Grove contributed 13 points, Cole Berg finished with 11 points, and Cade Balvanz registered 10 points and seven rebounds.

Sam Lewis led the Hawks on the glass with eight boards.

Trey Hinote led Greene County (5-11, 3-7 HOIC) with 23 points, but he needed 20 field goal attempts and six free throws to get there with Grove hounding him.

“Quinton had a very good game,” Hill said.
