FOREST CITY — It’s to the point now where each time Drake Doolittle steps onto a wrestling met he’s achieving things never before done in a Webster City singlet.

Go ahead and add two more significant milestones to his already stuffed coffers.

Doolittle, the second-ranked 120-pounder in Class 2A, reached 100 career pins and 150 career victories Tuesday night, as he helped the Lynx capture a pair of non-conference dual victories over Greene County (60-17) and Forest City (42-37).

Already the school record holder in both wins and pins, Doolittle stayed perfect on the season (18-0) with first period falls over Greene County’s Chance McCollom and Forest City’s Wyatt Gelhaus, the latter putting him on the new plateaus.

“Drake was his usual dominant self, and as I’ve said before, 100 pins is pretty special,” WCHS head coach Chad Hisler said. “He’s going to keep adding to it too and he’s getting up there with some of the best names in the state all-time.”

Eighth-ranked 106-pounder Camron Phetxoumphone, eighth-ranked 195-pounder Caleb Olson and 220-pound junior Malachi Montes joined Doolittle with two wins by fall to help extend the Lynx (7-5) dual win streak to four.

Olson (17-1) is second on the team in wins and pins (14).

“It’s nice going into the Christmas break with four straight wins, and those four guys all had good nights,” Hisler said. “We have things to work on, but hopefully we can keep getting better.”

Fourteen WCHS grapplers collected at least one win. The Lynx went 15-10 on the mat — 13 of the wins were by fall — with three victories by forfeit.

After falling behind Greene County 17-3, WCHS claimed the final 10 weights to run away from the Rams. Olson decked Joseph Anderson in 1:22 to ignite the surge, while Montes, Zach Messerly (285), Phetxoumphone, Reece Sadler (113), Doolittle, Ryan Zutleau (126) and Chase Rattenborg (132) followed by securing the maximum points. A 2-1 decision win for Brady Auderer (138) and forfeit for Daltyn Peck (145) finished the dual off.

Sean Godfredsen saved WCHS from making the long trek home with a split, as he flattened Forest City’s Blake Skjeie in 1:46 in the final match of the nightcap to push the Lynx back in front. The Indians trailed 30-12 at the midway point, but won five of the next six matches to pull ahead, 37-36, before Godfredsen righted the ship.

Alex Wolfgram (170) also had a pin for WCHS.

The Lynx will take an extended break for the holidays and will return to the mat to host Hampton-Dumont on Thursday, Jan. 3.
