LYNX ROLL TO 2-0

WEBSTER CITY – Allie Flaws and Kali Dawson both smacked two hits, including doubles, and drove in a combined three runs to help the Webster City softball team take down CGD, 8-1, Friday night at Lynx Field.

Clinging to a 2-1 lead in the late innings, WCHS (2-0, 2-0 NCC) erupted for six runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the Cowgirls (2-1, 1-1 NCC) away. Seven of the Lynx 10 hits came in the frame, highlighted by a RBI triple off the bat of Flaws and a RBI double by Courtney Lampman. Taylor McKinney came off the bench to lace a two-run single, while Dawson and Taylor Schnathorst roped RBI singles.

Haley Flaws and Cynthia Whitehill added base knocks in the win.

Lynx pitcher Gabbi Hoversten allowed just two hits and fanned four Cowgirls. Her counterpart, CGD’s Sydney Terhark, finished with 10 strikeouts.

WCHS was scheduled to take part in the Ogden Invite on Saturday, but the tournament was cancelled because of rain. The Lynx will travel to Hampton to face Hampton-Dumont on Wednesday
